THE UN ARMS TRADE TREATY THREAT
The month of July will see many nations in the United Nations come together to establish an International Arms Trade Treaty. The problem with this is the World body members for the most part are authoritarian and dictatorial regimes, that trample on individual freedoms. If some nations are not so radical they are at least socialist driven democracies, pushing the big government policies which diminishes it’s citizens liberty.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s remarks to the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty in July, it gives us a flavor of the Treaty and it’s effects on our freedoms: “An agreed set of standards for arms exports, along with strict national legislation,” “We have an instrument to facilitate cooperation in tracking illicit small arms and light weapons, and we also have the United Nations Register of Conventional Arms.”
A statement issued by the Chief Negotiator for Mexico Dr. Roberto Dondisch Glowinski:
“For Mexico, It is clear the objective of this treaty is to prevent misuse of weapons as a means to protect the Individual. In this sense the following are of the utmost importance.”
We cannot lose sight of the humanitarian aspect that must guide this treaty by using clear legal language as it is dictated by international law.
This treaty must cover all types of conventional weapons without differentiation on it’s supposed use. Criminals do not differentiate between weapons manufactured for shooting sport and those developed for military snipers when they intend to kill. We cannot make this different ion either.
The treaty must include regulations for parts and ammunition. ……….
One could imagine nefarious ties between the Department of Justice, The Secretary of State, ATF, The White House and other anti gun groups and foreign States who would relish the demise of our 2nd Amendment rights. All of this comes together with “Fast and Furious” an operation to flood Mexico with Arms originating from the United States. The amateurish operation formulated in the back rooms of Washington. A plot to deny the citizens of the United States liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. To further assault the freedoms of the American people by the UN Arms Treaty is the Tracing and Record Keeping provisions required by the Treaty. The following is a section from the record keeping requirements:
Excerpt from proposed treaty:
Record-keeping
11. The choice of methods for record-keeping is a national prerogative. States will ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are established for all marked small arms and light weapons within their territory and maintained in accordance with paragraph12 below in order to enable their competent national authorities to trace illicit small arms and light weapons in a timely and reliable manner.
12. From the time of the adoption of this instrument, records pertaining to marked small arms and light weapons will, to the extent possible, be kept indefinitely, but in any case a State will ensure the maintenance of:
(a) Manufacturing records for at least 30 years; and
(b) All other records, including records of import and export, for at least 20 years.
13. States will require that records pertaining to small arms and light weapons held by companies that go out of business be forwarded to the State in accordance with its national legislation.
This is just a slice of the Treaty about to be before the United Nations. If this Treaty is voted for in the United Nations backed by the Obama regime, Ratified by the Senate and we are signatories to the treaty, Our government would have successfully removed the most important part of our Bill of Rights from the Constitution.
It is best said by our first President George Washington "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution."
Thomas Jefferson
